So I decided it was long past time to at least update this site with a comment or two. I'm not one for writing in blogs just for the sake of writing in blogs, so my postings here are among the most infrequent (the MySpace account gets more attention, but then I'm selling CDs and music from there ... ).
And that's really what's happened: the music has been very active, both in Second Life and real life, so I've had a lot of energy and focus going in that direction. I've added a link to the recording of my most recent sojourn into public performances: it's my appearance at the Open Sounds performance at Third Life Studios this past 31 May ... all live, no "pre-recorded" sequences, one guitar and a whole lot of processing toys.
It marks the first time I've really been able to use my studio "effects" in a venue setting. I took the usual small rack with the twin Vortexes, the MX200 and the somewhat recently-added G-major, but I also brought along a MacBook loaded with custom Garage Band soft-synths. With the floor covered with the delay pedals, the FCB1010 MIDI control board, and other footpedals, it was almost an installation piece! One exciting moment was when I discovered, in the performance, that several of those custom patches were actually being "activated" by the use of the Ebow (usually, the effect of the Ebow's resonating the strings isn't enough to trigger the MIDI pickup on the guitar, but that night they were ... and they have since then, too) which made me a very happy camper.
So even this post has wound up being more about music than acronyms, museums, or libraries. Maybe because that's been the more exciting aspect of what I've been doing lately? Hmmm ...
